When I started reading this book I thought that this book would be some kind of travelogue but I found that though there is extensive travelling by the characters but story revolves around their life rather than on the travelling.

I couldn't get the gist of the places visited by the characters in the book. the places are not discussed much in details. and most of the time story revolves around the life of the characters.

I found this book pacy and easy to read but it fails to capture the essence of the places visited in the book. I liked the characters of Abhay , Shashank and Unnati. I also liked the bond that they share in between. (view spoiler)[ I also liked it when Shashank forgives Abhay for creating misunderstanding between him and Unnati. I was expecting Abhay to find someone special during the trip but that didn't happen but that should be OK. (hide spoiler)]

The book contains seven stories of seven different people who either have suffered some kind of mental/physical abuse and they are so confused in life that they don't even know why they acting / reacting in a certain way.

When I got this book I was a little apprehensive about the time it would take me to finish it. but once I started I finished it in one day. all the stories are great. The discussion between the patience and Psychiatrist were easy to understand though in the story related to Razia it went over my head and couldn't grasp much. But anyway as I was in no mood to understand the nitty- gritty of Psychology and was more interested in the stories I didn't lose much.

The story of Shubham broke my heart , its a story of an untouchable boy and his family's hardship in the hinterland of the Indian state of Bihar.

The story about Sulochana suggests in the beginning that something happened to her in her childhood but nothing comes out later which ok but I just kept guessing it.

Overall this is a good book and also pacy baring some part of it. I rate this book 4/5.

This book is about finding the right syllable to to finish the Sutram which is about to break its confinement and destroy the world. the phenomenon was started by a Tantrik to take revenge on the behalf of a concubine of a prince. over the time this Sutram becomes dangerous and should be finished only by some descendant of the killed prince.

The story of the book is OK and the narration is also tight. it's pacy and you would want to finish it as soon as you start it. but the end of the book disappoints me. also, Sutram should have been described a little more for better understanding. there are many questions which are left unanswered. how this Sutram was confined is also not clear.

I liked this book and I rate it 4/5.

इस किताब के पढ़ने के बाद लगता है की हिन्दी किताबों के भी अच्छे दिन आ गये हैं | पिछले एक दो सालों मे एक से बढ़ कर एक किताबें हिन्दी मे आयी हैं | ये किताब भी उनमे से एक है| सीधी साधारण बोलचाल की भाषा जो हर किसी को समझ मे आए | और हाँ, ये किसी इंग्लीश किताब का हिन्दी मे अनुवाद नही है इसलिए भी इसके कॅरक्टर ओरिजिनल लगते हैं |

चलिए आइए अब स्टोरी की बात करते हैं | सीधी सादी स्टोरी है लेकिन बहुत ही बातुनी है इसके कॅरक्टर | कोई चुप ही नही होता ! जब बातचीत शुरू करते हैं तो करते ही रहते हैं और रुकते ही नही कहीँ | बीच बीच मे दुबारा पढ़ना पड़ता है की भाई कौन क्या कह रहा है | लेकिन ऐसा एक आध बार ही हुआ |

सुधा और चंदर एक साथ रहते हैं लेकिन सुधा शादी के लिए तैयार नही है , ये नये जमाने की लड़की है जो अपने पैरों पर खड़ी है और अपने मन का करती हैं बस यहीं से सारा झमेला सुरू शुरू होता है | चंदर भाई अपना बोरिया बिस्तर बाँध कर हरिद्वार की तरफ रुख़ कर लेते है| वहाँ उन्हे एक और लड़की मिलती है जो भी सुधा की तरह है | फाइनली सब कुछ ठीक होता है लेकिन शादी ? ये आपको पढ़ कर ही पता करना होगा | लेकिन क्या शादी करना हमेशा ज़रूरी होता है ? वैसे भी शादी मे सबसे बड़ा नुकसान तो लड़की का ही होता है | सुरक्षा के नाम पर जिंदगी भर किसी का गुलाम बन जाती है |

खैर मुझे तो ये किताब बहुत अच्छी लगी ओर मेरे ख़याल से इसे 5 star तो मिलने ही चाहीए |

The book is about Asha who had to migrate to India post partition of Indian subcontinent in 1947.

Asha, a Hindu girl and teenager, lives in a small village called Suhanpur in today's Pakistan. she has affair with a Muslim boy Feroze, who is also her best friend's brother. when partition of India is declared, the house of Asha is attacked and destroyed. Asha and her family take refuge in her friend Nargis' house. and then finally Asha's father decides to move to Delhi and they start their journey.. But during this journey Asha's whole family is killed by the Muslim Zealots but she is saved by a Muslim family. she manages to move to Delhi and gets married as well.

Till now, the story is pacy and kept me engrossed but after this it starts dragging, specially Part II of the book. by the way the book has total IV parts and Part IV has only one chapter. from chapter III onward it starts to pick the pace again and ends up nicely.

I wish that, Asha should have given some better reasons to convince Priya to agree to the marriage of Lana and Hussain. and, probably could have been told about her real mother.

Despite it's slow pace I liked the story of the book and I rate it 3.5/5.

यात्रा सँस्मरंण पर यह मैने पहली किताबपढ़ी है| लेखन का स्टाइल बहुत ही सरहनीय है और भाषा बिल्कुल सिंपल, जो किसी को भी समझ आ जाए| इस किताब को पढ़ने मे ज़यादा दिमाग़ नही लगाना पड़ा ओर ना ही बहुत ज़्यादा कुछ याद रखने की ज़रूरत पड़ी | बीच-बीच मे राइटर जिस तरह से लड़कियों की स्थिति को लेकर भारतीय समाज को लताड़ती हैं वो भी काफ़ी सराहनीय है, और इतने सलीके से कही है की पढ़ने वाला भी सोच मे पड़ जाए| इस किताब को पढ़ने से पहले मैने कभी खवाब मे नही सोचा था की कोई लड़की अकेले युरोप भ्रमण कर सकती वो भी उस तरीके से जैसा कि राइटर ने किया है | मेरे तो दिमाग़ के चक्षु खुल गये हैं और मेरे ख्याल से जो भी इस किताब को पढ़ेगा वो भी अब अपनी बेटियों, बहनो को शायद अब वो फ्रीडम दे जिसकी राइटर उमीद कर रहीं हैं | नही तो आने वाले समय मे लड़कियाँ खुद-ब-खुद छीन लेंगी|

यह संस्मरण युरोप के बारे मे बहुत सारी चीज़ें बताता है| जो मेरे लिए नई थी, जो शायद इसी तरह के संस्मरण मे कवर हो सकता था, जहाँ एक यूरोपियन मा अपनी बेटी को, जो वर्ल्ड टूर पर निकनलने वाली है, सलाह देती है की अगर रेप जैसी कोई घटना हो जाए तो anti pregnancy पिल ले लेना क्योंकि जंगली भेड़िए कहीं भी मिल सकते हैं | काश भरतीय माएँ भी ऐसी हो जाएँ तो लड़कियों का जीवन तोड़ा सा सरल हो जाए|

अब आते हैं किताब के फोटोग्रॅफ्स पर, पता नही क्यों फोटोग्रॅफ्स ब्लॅक & वाइट मे हैं ? अगर ये colored होते तो ज़्यादा अच्छा रहता | हो सकता मैने जो किताब पढ़ी वो शायद सस्ता संस्करण हो ?

सभी तरह से यह किताब पढ़ने के हिसाब से ठीक है | और, मै इसे 5/5 रेट करता हूँ|

This is a English translation of KR Meera's original Malyalam book Yudasinte Suvisesham . I have not read the original book in Malyalam, I wish I knew Malyalam, , but I found this English book very good.

I story of the book is about Yudas and Prema. Yudas is a formal or still a naxalite and is always in the guilt of revealing the names of his naxal friends during police interrogation. Prema is a daughter of a policeman and has a crush on him and tries to smooth his life but every time she tries to reach Yudas he moves on leaving her behind wondering.

The book has a bit of philosophical touch as well. and gives brief idea of how Police brutally crushed the naxal movement of Kerala in 70s.

The narrative is gripping and I didn't put this book down before finishing it. The end of the book was expected.

This is an interesting book and first for me on the subject - plastic surgery.

The story starts with Dr Dhruv passing the PG entrance exam and joining Arogayam Hospital. and, his journey towards becoming a plastic surgeon begins. finally he has a full fledged hospital in Bombay where celebrities and common man both come for surgeries.

There are not twists or upheavals in the story and its all about, with minor details, how plastic surgery was done on a particular patient. the first part of the book is pacy but the second part drags , probably, in the need of a proper end and ultimately ends unceremoniously.

Though the story is not exciting but the narration is interesting at some places. the conversation between the Doctor and patient are funny at times.

I rate this book 3/5.

This is first book in the series - "The Monk Key" by the author Shashi.

The mystical world of Himalaya is always charming and alluring and in the narration of the story the author has canvased it beautifully.

The story is about Ashutosh who moves on to join a monastic life due to problems in his personal life. and during this journey he meets various people/monks and most of the narration revolves around it.

I liked the spiritual journey of Ashutosh. The beginning of the book is a bit slow but later on it picks up the pace and becomes interesting . Some questions of Ayan and Ashutosh still remain Unanswered in the end but hopefully those will be answered in next series of the book.

This book was written in 1930s. the story is crisp and fast moving.

The story is about Nirupama whose parents are dead and she lives with her maternal uncle. The uncle now manages the Zamindari left by Nirupama's father.

Once married Nirupama would have inherited all of her father's properties and because of that her uncles, now manages the Zamindari left over by her father, delays her marriage.

Nirupama starts liking Kumar whose family is ostracized in his native place where Nirupama's father was Zamindar and now Nirupama inherited that.

Interesting thing is that in this whole book there is no single communication between Nirupama and Kumar apart from the one that they have in the beginning and both started loving each other and you can also feel that love in the unwritten words of this book and that's the beauty of the author and his narration.

I rate this book 5/5.

This book is about the social media usage and how people from various sphere of the society are getting impacted by it. the book tells how some of them are able to use it wisely but many of them are getting trapped into it and get mentally stressed.

The book starts with author's her own experience with the social media and then how she ended up deactivating her account on Facebook. After that the book takes a particular aspect of the impacts of the social networking site and devotes a chapter around it. each chapter starts with a interview with a person who is kind of affected by that particular aspect and then author dissects it further. Each chapter has a lot of opinions from psychiatrists , doctors and social workers.

The book discusses following and tries to provide solutions to some of them it :
- how children are getting impacted by this.
- how a user with many followers feels compelled to update periodically.
- selfies. some call it national disease of India :) .
- why people show off so much on social networking site ?
- how tier 2 cities are using it ?
- are your uploads to a networking site safe ? is your account safe ?
- Trolls. and how to handle them .
- What is the best way to use the networking sites ?

Two chapters, one about the impact on the kids My Facebook Family: Growing up online and the other one related trolls When the trolls come marching in made me sad.

The issues that the author has raised, I can see them around me and they are going to become a very big problem in the near future if not handled well by the families, Govts, and society as a whole.

The book is written and structured very well. I also liked the author's writing styles. It kept me glued to the book.

The story of the book is OK but I found the idea of having a single country in the world is a bit shallow. the author discussed only the good things about it but didn't discuss about the complexities and challenges diversities brings along with it. but any way, this is not a research paper and may be the author wanted to keep it simple and discussed only the good things about it. it reminds me of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

The names of the characters in the book are, a bit, irritating. and at many places I found unnecessary one liners or paragraphs were forced into the narration which do not gel well with the story.

There are some bright spots in the book. the part where a mother gives life lessons to her son was great. the little love story was also cute.

The book talks about how following certain steps you can become a super hero soul and make your life successful.

The author says that everything, all the power that can transform you, to a super hero, is within you but you are not aware of it because of various kinds of reasons.

There are nine chpaters in the book and it starts with "the source within" where author gives a brief idea about the source. And then moves on to explain about how to use it , how to keep it safe, how to keep nurturing over a period of time and so on.

The book does motivate me but the tricks or methodologies that it suggests are limited but given the point that the book is small it could not have covered everything in details. For example there are numerous books only on self discipline that provide the steps to work on it, But, this book has wrapped it up in a couple of paragraphs.

The book is full of quotes Which can motivate anybody for a while.

Almost every chapter name of the book has word "source" in it and sometimes I found it difficult to relate the chapter name with its content. For example the chapter 6 "Learning from the source" describes self discipline, time management etc. it was difficult for me to relate the chapter name and it's content. I could find similar disparities in other chapters.

The book did motivate me, it also created a spark to explore this more, to make my self a super hero, on my own.

In the story, the author talks about devdasis and how they are exploited and how she comes across these girls during her medical practice. Though she comes to India to search for her husband but ends up fighting for one of her patients.

The story is OK and I find it well researched. She has nicely captured the corrupt Indian system and the plight of sex workers and the deceased.

Its a small book of around 100 pages, a novella.

The story is about Anjali who falls in love with Siddharth knowing that he is already married. Well, now you can imagine the confusion and complexities it can create in the mind of Anjali.

I could not understand what kind of stupidity can push a girl to have an affair with a married man knowingly. The author also could not answer that in the book as well. So can we assume that it just happened ? may be yes. but it would have been good if the author had given some good reason for that.

the end of the book is kind of OK and was expected.

I loved this book and kind of have become fan of Author's writing style.

This is a simple love story of Aniket and Ajopa and has happy ending. The author has narrated the story from Ajopa's point of view and was able t keep it interesting till the very end.

The writing style of the author is elegant. At no point I could see the author loosing the grip of the story. Having said that, the first couple of chapters could have been racy.

author was able to keep the reader engrossed till the end.

The protagonist starts feeling that life is birch after his girl friend ditches him. His life gets disarrayed and he even tries to attempt suicide. But finally better sense prevails and he puts his life back on track.

The author tries to convey a message that success and failure are just perception of the society. Which was kind of thought provoking.

My first comment about this book is that it is full of wisdom. The subject of the book is marital life but one can apply it, more or less, in any relationship.

The book is based on scientific research and scientific research is quite valuable when it is made available to common people in a format which is easy to understand. In this aspect I think that the author has succeeded tremendously.

The 5 steps that the book talk about are -
1. Expect less and get more.

2. Give incentives and rewards

3. Have daily briefing
Here the author discusses "10 minute rule" which is quite interesting.

4. Implement change
Emphasis is more on yourself than on your partner. The expectation is that the partner will reciprocate.

5. KEEP COSTS LOW, BENEFITS HIGH

The book says -A common characteristic of unhappy marriages is that chronic disagreements remain unresolved. Work on the smaller things that irritate you everyday and fix them constructively.


More sex. More attention. More kindness. More fun. More connection. This books' five simple steps are the way to get there.

I give it 10/10.

I started reading this book with little apprehension about how the author is going to capture life style of people five thousand years back. But in the end I found it quite ok and acceptable.

I have read the Ramanyana many times and, specially Ramcharitmanas, and any slight change in the story doesn't go down well. But in this book the writer has avoided over-indulgence and have kept the narrative simple and traditional. though the author has taken some liberty to explain certain concepts.

The book makes deliberate attempts to address some of the issues that India face today and there are some interesting discussions.

The discussion that take place between Maharishi vashishtha and Ram about deva and Asura rules is interesting. Similarly the duscussion between Ram, Bharat, and Sita about religion vs rules is quite interesting.

The story looses its track at multiple places. The incident related to Roshni got dragged a bit. It doesn't fit into the theme of the book.

Overall I liked this book and I would rate this book 3/5.

This is a woman fiction. The story revolves around Renuka and covers her whole lifetime. There are some more characters in this story which probably are more powerful than Renuka. I liked Mandira as well. her character is more bold, fearless and "Bindas" than Renuka but the story doesn't talk much about her. she remains in the back ground. Renuka doesn't face any hardship in the life as much as Mandira or Papia or Kaki-Ma had faced.

Lets come to the story of the book, it's fresh and starts very nicely and has a pace in the begining. but, later on in the middle it drags a bit and the end was a bit disappointing. the whole plot about the curse is almost lost and the story becomes more about business, upliftment of the woman, creating more jobs etc.

The book doesn''t answer why Ichamayi says that she is Damini when Renuka and Papia meet her. Similarly, while Renuka is in Germany she also dreams the same voice but the book never provided answers.

the chapter 33 - further rise to fame , sets the downfall of the whole story. I kept on waiting for something about Damini's curse but I just kept on waiting...

In the end, the book fails to deliver what it promises in the beginning.

This is a nice book for children to get started with idioms. Each idiom is explained with an example at the bottom of the page.

I liked the graphics in the picture and I think kids are going to love this. the pictures depict the actual meaning of the words in the idioms and that makes it funny as well easy to remember.

The story of the book is about a small town boy who becomes a famous writer and finally suffers from incurable disease.

The book has a little love story as well but I didn't find it interesting. Various incident in the book give me a feeling that the main character of the book Ayan should have been a movie star than a writer .

The end of the book was kind of acceptable and predictable

I loved this book, or better, I am enamoured by this book. The best part is the story of the book. It's fresh, glossy , a bit of it is mythical but yet with modern outlook. Above all , the author has come out as a great story teller.

After reading the first few pages of the book I started liking the style of the author. During this whole read I never found a dull moment in the book and that is the magic of the story vis-a-vis author's writing style.

I am highly impressed by this book and the author. I rate it 5/5.

It's a fantasy fiction which revolves around winning and controlling the "The Unbreakable Law".

Two leaders opposite to each other's ideology fight to destroy each other.

I liked the story and the freshness that it comes with. Some of the ideas like "the chamber of sorrow" are worth to be mentioned.

I also liked the concept of Kepper.

Overall I liked this book. I rate this book 4.5/5.

This book is a nice cute story about a girl who faces problems at home after her parents divorced.

There are no big twists or turns in the story. It looks so real and ordinary which I think is the USP of this book.

The Couple of love scenes in the book are beautifully captured.

Overall I liked this book.

I enjoyed reading this book.

The story of The book is nice and well weaved.the good thing is that it ends on happy note.

The author has nicely portrayed the character of Gladdys Spencer and it touched my heart.

There are some quotes from the book which I liked -

"Never let a man dictate your life"

‘People go on marrying because they can’t resist natural forces, although many of them may know perfectly well that they are possibly buying a month’s pleasure with a life’s discomfort.’

“So the pain goes away,Or else it just gets covered up by some new kind of injury.”


The story keeps one glued till the end.

I rate this book 10/10.

This is a good story. I liked it.

The story is about how a group of MNCs try to increase their sells by controling their customer's dreams and pushing them to buy their products. A group of friends fight them.

There are few things which are not explained well in the book, like - how a customer would buy a product which is pushed through a dream. May be the other books in the series will cover that.

It would have been interesting to know how the companies Like MultiMind Corp function from inside.

It's still a mystery who put the fire in the farm and why? I found that part of the story half baked.

The story ends in a positive note. I rate this book 3/5.

The books is about importance of being a father. It talks about various characteristics a father should have to run his house smoothly and help raise kids who are of strong character and humane.

The most important takeaway for me from the book are -
1.) Build relationship, especially with your kids, so that you don't have to enforce rules on them.
2.) have infinite patient and no anger under any circumstances.
3.) Respect your wife either she is working or home maker.

the book tries to convey its essence through various small incidents which happened in someone's life and I think the authors succeeded in conveying the right message. I like this way of messaging.

Overall this is a good book and the parents can learn a lot by reading it.
I would rate this book 4/5.

This is a great books from a young reader's perspective. throughout the read, I was mesmerised by the narration of this small and simple story about the great American dust bowl. This story has the potential to become classic.

The book starts with a couplets written by Mark M Redfearn and it fills you all with positive energy. and, then goes on to narrate the impact of that Dust Bowl on american life in simple words. The photographs and sketches used in the books are awesome and help to express the story.

The story teaches one to be positive, be prepared for the bad days, and, always love your family.

I loved this story very much and I rate this book 5/5.

The book is about middle school students. It highlights the menace of bullying. Some of bullyings depicted in the book are extreme and are not commonly heard.

The most satisfying aspect of the story in the book is that all the kids, specially who are at the receiving end of the bullying, survive .

The story is about Joshua who is A middle school student. The story is tight and gripping in the beginning but loosens a bit at the middle of the book but picks up nicely towards the end and has happy ending.

I liked the story and the way author narrated it. I would rate it 4/5.
